Battle Creek Public Schools to switch to virtual learning during COVID-19 surge

The Battle Creek Public School Board of Education voted to switch to virtual learning starting Wednesday April 14, 2021.

Battle Creek pre-K through 12th grade students would not have classes in person on April 13 while teachers switched to virtual.

The school also said athletics practice and extracurricular activities would be postponed.

The school said they planned to return by at least April 26.

Meal pickups would be available at area schools from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and at Battle Creek Central High School from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. starting Tuesday.

Students in grades pre-K to fifth-grade would be able to pick up Chromebooks at buildings starting Tuesday.

The school said sixth through 12th-grade students would get more information about the virtual learning schedule by at least Tuesday.

Michigan testing would be rescheduled.
